LEARNERS TAKING THE LEAD
We believe learning happens best when the learner is interested, motivated and empowered to make decisions about their own learning. Therefore we support learners in developing the skills and dispositions to confidently lead their own journey.
THE DESIGN THINKING PROCESS
We believe a human-centered design thinking process inspires creativity.
This process utilizes empathy and an understanding of people to create impactful solutions.
Students will use design thinking to explore their interests and passions to foster innovation and critical thinking skills.
We believe the world, and therefore learning is interdisciplinary in nature. Our community becomes our classroom for authentic and meaningful learning by using concepts and skills that span many disciplines. Through a project-based learning approach, learners spend time engaging with a challenging problem, question, or challenge, gaining valuable understanding.
DEVELOPING A COMMUNITY ECOSYSTEM
We believe in the expertise of not only our learning designers,
but also community members, local and global organizations,
and the wide variety of places we have at our fingertips.
Connecting with our local and global community allows
learning to happen anytime, anywhere,
transcending the walls of our school.
We believe in cultivating a learning environment that supports the whole child so that they develop physical, intellectual, social and emotional skills. Through these transferable skills our learners will gain competence, confidence, and motivation to lead an active and balanced lifestyle, regardless of their age and ability.
We believe in organising learners into multi-age learning communities.
This structure creates a safe and caring environment that best supports learners to grow at their own pace.
Multi-age learning also develops deeper interpersonal relationships, builds a greater sense of confidence and reflects real life situations.
THE POWER OF LANGUAGE
We believe that language connects us. We value all languages to build an inclusive community and develop identity. We know that all children learn language, learn through language and learn about language. We know that learners learn best when using all of the languages they know in meaningful and authentic contexts.
